Some skills which are required by a qualified plumber:
  1. He must be in a position to read blueprints, draw specifications required so as to determine layout of waste, water supply, and venting systems.
  2. He must know how to install, repair and maintain commercial, domestic and industrial plumbing systems and fixtures.
  3. He must know how to locate and mark positions for connections to pipe, passage holes, as well as fixtures in floors and walls.
  4. A good plumber must know how to measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using power tools, machines and hand.
  5. He must be well versed with testing pipes to check for leaks using water and air pressure gauges
  6. He must have good communicating skills so as to communicate easily with co-workers, subcontractors, management and other tradesmen.
  7. He must be able to plan and perform complex calculations which are needed for specialized projects.
  8. He must be in a position to provide cost and time estimates of the work which has to be performed.
  9. He should be aware of legal regulations and various safety issues.
  10. Last but not the least, he should be comfortable working at great heights.
