Some skills which are required by a qualified plumber:
- He must be in a position to read blueprints, draw specifications required so as to determine layout of waste, water supply, and venting systems.
- He must know how to install, repair and maintain commercial, domestic and industrial plumbing systems and fixtures.
- He must know how to locate and mark positions for connections to pipe, passage holes, as well as fixtures in floors and walls.
- A good plumber must know how to measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using power tools, machines and hand.
- He must be well versed with testing pipes to check for leaks using water and air pressure gauges
- He must have good communicating skills so as to communicate easily with co-workers, subcontractors, management and other tradesmen.
- He must be able to plan and perform complex calculations which are needed for specialized projects.
- He must be in a position to provide cost and time estimates of the work which has to be performed.
- He should be aware of legal regulations and various safety issues.
- Last but not the least, he should be comfortable working at great heights.
